CranioSomatic Foundations 2

PrintE-mail

CranioSomatic Foundations - 2 is a 2-day course in intermediate cranial techniques, with evaluation and treatment linked to musculoskeletal function.  It builds on the concepts and skills presented in CSF-1, with details of anatomy that include a focus on the face and TMJ.  In this course, participants become proficient in detecting and treating eight more cranial strain patterns as they relate to muscle function.  Techniques from Applied Kinesiology are used more extensively to identify both cranial and somatic dysfunctions and verify corrections. Three-dimensional models are available at every student table to facilitate understanding. More complex cranial techniques are presented, with ample table time for supervised skill development.  The course concludes with ways participants can incorporate the cranial releases, evaluation techniques and CranioSomatic concepts into their clinical practice protocols.

Duration: Two Days
Schedule:
Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm &
Sunday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Dates:
December 1 & 2, 2012
Instructor:

G. Dallas Hancock, D.C., Ph.D. and Florence ‘Flo’ Barber-Hancock, LMT, Ph.D.

Dr. Hancock is a Chiropractic Physician who specializes in cranial techniques. He has maintained his private practice in Tampa, Florida since 1976. Through years of clinical practice he has identified many frequently-occurring neuromuscular and postural patterns that are present in a large proportion of patients. These compensatory patterns appear to be secondary to chronic cranial patterns. Dr. Hancock has developed effective, long-lasting cranial treatment procedures that release the primary cranial patterns, eliminate the related secondary neuromuscular compensatory patterns, and result in pain relief, improved posture, and better muscle function throughout the body.

Dr. Hancock began studying and utilizing cranial therapy in 1974. He has attended many cranial workshops presented by founders and leaders in the cranial field.  He began teaching his unique cranial techniques in 1988.  Dr. Hancock continues to share with other healthcare professionals the new techniques he has developed and the knowledge he has derived from his studies.  He currently offers CranioSomatic workshops for healthcare professionals in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia through Hancock CranioSomatic Institute.

Florence ‘Flo’ Barber-Hancock specializes in pain relief, joint mobilization, and pediatric problems. Exploring new concepts in the late 1990s, Flo developed a unique cranial therapy – Facilitated Pathways Intervention® (FPI), and the cranial mapping that she created for FPI therapy was the topic of her Ph.D. in Neurosensory Rehabilitation.  FPI  therapy uses small, gentle massage-type techniques performed on the head, face and neck.  The cranial treatment area is based on the myofascial map that Dr. Barber-Hancock created, and always relates to a specific pain or dysfunction in the muscles or joints of the body.  The therapy is appropriate for all age groups, from infants to the elderly, as treatment is very calming to the nervous system and produces both immediate and long-term benefits.  Flo has been an LMT in private practice since 1997, and FPI is the focus of her clinical practice.  She has taught FPI therapy and other cranial techniques in a number of states and several foreign countries over the last 12 years.
